Oneupweb : Awards Season Junkie

I love Awards Season – yes, you heard me correctly.  I said Awards Season.  From the nominations to the Best and Worst Dressed lists after the event, I look forward to these shows as much as I enjoy the work that is celebrated in them.  In fact, I usually end up filling my Netflix queue with movies I hadn’t heard of before tuning into the Golden Globes and Academy Awards.

I take great pleasure in award show fashions…the glitz, the glamour, the jewels and the shoes!  I love playing armchair fashion police with a glass of champagne in hand, decked out in my fanciest pj’s.  Every season, EOnline finds a way to up the ante in pre-show coverage and engagement.  From their GlamCam360, the Twitter hashtag #Eredcarpet, to this year’s Red Carpet Pose-Off, they don’t disappoint.  The Red Carpet Pose-Off allows you to pick your best dressed lady through a series of photos.  I chose Claire Danes; she looked outstanding.

Overall, last Sunday’s Golden Globes entertained and educated.  The hype around Ricky Gervais and what he was going to say sparked a trend on Twitter.  Articles flooded just about every news outlet the following day with a list of winners.  Twitter exploded with with 6,162 tweets per second surrounding all things Golden Globes according to MashablePeter Dinklage used his acceptance speech to raise awareness for a crime committed in England by saying “I want to mention a gentleman I’m thinking about in England: his name is Martin Henderson, Google him.” Whether you love award shows or hate them is your own opinion, but you certainly cannot escape the coverage they garner or the excitement that they embody.
