Yahoo! onePlace - Mobile-Content Management

Yahoo! recently announced the upcoming release of a new mobile-content management tool called Yahoo! onePlace.

onePlace plans to ease the mobile web search by creating a "favorite" list for the mobile device. This personalization of the mobile web will hopefully make mobile search more customized, functional, and less time consuming.

The tool will keep content current and organized, while personalizing data according to the consumer's preferences. Consumers will be able to link to any useful information on a particular topic. Information will be automatically updated and available.

According to Yahoo's Executive Vice President of Connected Life, Marco Boerries,

Yahoo! onePlace is where users will be able to find what matters to them the most, no matter where their interests, passions and information come from. Yahoo! onePlace will provide mobile users with a rich and dynamic content experience.

It might seem unfathomable, but try to imagine being trapped in an undisclosed location without internet access for your laptop. Your only other connection to the digital world is through your mobile phone. Instead of tediously searching for information on your mobile phone, you will now be able to use onePlace to update information automatically. Your hotel information, flight times, and restaurant reservation will be at your fingertips without a lengthy and timely mobile search.

This announcement brings competition to Microsoft's Silverlight platform and the recent partnership with Nokia.

Yahoo! onePlace is expected to be available on mobile devices by the conclusion of the second quarter.
