Looksmart are now an online advertising and technology company and have the properties FindArticles.com and Furl.net that are both doing well.

The Co has many strong AdCenter partnerships including some huge Global Ads and Media Co's such as Ask.com, REED Publishing and The NY Times. The Co also has an AdCenter licenced to Facebook THE 'hottest' property on the Net these days, and one that is said to release it's own "SocialAds" Platform on 6th, of November.

Wisenut appears to be being used in some "white labeled" situations including the (1800) Vertical Search Site not yet released, (as linked below) in a partnership between Looksmart and Mainstream Advertising.

http://www.verticalsearchnetwork.com/search_technologies.html

Mainstream Advertising is owned by Network Solutions (a General Atlantic Co) that I have a strong feeling, will be a "back door" Listing announcement on the Nasdaq (through Looksmart), as early as next week.

But just an opinion, of course!

Cheers!

Emil, I agree, WiseNut wasn't always the most relevant search engine out there. To be honest I'm not sure I could lay a finger on exactly what it is about WiseNut that I have always liked. To be honest it was one of those engines that I always liked but rarely used - Maybe I'm just a sucker for a monocle and a smile. Seriously though, it's just a recent example of a search engines that has falling into history without much notice.

Wisenut was a really really bad search engine. I don´t understand how you can to speak so well about it. In its begining, it was a interesting search engine and, sometines, i got some search results better than Google. But it has rained very much from those times. In the last years, Wisenut it went from bad to worse. Yes, it´s true about "sneak-a-peek", but it was not enough to get alive. Its results were poor and, often, it offered results unuseful.
I remeber when some mass media spoken about it, saying "...that new search engine which will fight against Google...".
